The Garden as a sense of personal identity

From the creation of the world, human identity has been inextricably linked to a garden. In a sense, a garden can be anything. It can be a tree in your backyard, a blackberry bush, or a grass field. A garden is a patch of space. It does not become a "garden" in the sense of the word, until we personally invest ourselves in it.

My eleventh thing is that category of garden itself. In the next pages, I unpack the category of garden. What does garden mean in these different contexts? In what different ways have people invested themselves in gardens throughout history, and how do these subcategories of garden work to help form our human identity?

Just like you cannot predict what your plant will look like when you sow the seeds, this project has been an experimentation in growth. My numbering system for each section, while planted at the beginning of the project, developed a life of its own and grew into the random formation you see above. Unfortunately, Plants 1-4 did not survive the Winter Term. Do not panic. Some of the greatest lessons in gardening involve giving up control. The project is layed out in the correct order shown above; just ignore the numbers, and let me guide you on your journey. Let's begin...
