Changes [Apr 01, 2008]
Ten Things 2007: Pe...Have you logged onto Facebook today? And are you thinking that it's time to change your profile picture to a more attractive one? How about posting the pictures from the wild party last weekend? Well then, welcome to facebook.com. Many people, particularly college students, are so obsessed with the facebook that they spend a great deal of time (procrastinating) on http://www.thefacebook.com everyday. The term "facebook whore" was coined to describe these addicts. Are you a facebook whore?
Here is a peek at my facebook account. I love posting pictures on it.
I log onto my account a few times a day, just like most of you do. Then I read my news feed, check out my friends' profile updates, and look at the new photo albums or blogs that they have posted. (If you're unfamiliar with these facebook features, you'd soon learn about them through my project.) I'm not a "facebook whore," I don't think. Or maybe I'm simply in denial. Yet, facebook whore or not, I honestly can't clearly pinpoint why the facebook has grown to be quite an integral part of my life (and possibly your life, too). Hence, this project is somewhat like a social experiment. I wish to examine if college students are making use of facebook.com to manage their relationships better. It is my hope that through answering this central question, I can finally understand why I use the facebook (and like it so much), and determine if it is doing me any good at all.
I would love to dedicate this project to Kimberly, Dan and Matt. May we all find happiness in the complex world of romance, and/or enjoy what it is like to be loved by someone conventionally.
