The Irish American West, a Hypertext Corpus of Texts and Research Stanford University

The Irish-American West database (powered by MySQL, and PHP), is a comprehensive collection of works of Irish-American literature. Unlike the full text collection of Irish-American works specifically from the West, the database includes all of Irish-American literature and allows users the opportunity to search the most wide-ranging bibliography of Irish-American literature in the world.

More than a simple online bibliography, this database includes abstracts of individual works, short biographies of individual authors, and, most importantly, detailed information about the geographical settings of the works in the collection. With the included fields, users can search the database not simply by author, date, or title, but by geographical region. A scholar wishing to find out how many and which works by Irish-American authors were set in Ireland can do so easily, and can then choose to graph the results of a search using an interactive graphing tool custom developed to accompany the database. Below are several example of how to search the database.
